1502 Black Gold Toro

One of my favourite sticks. A full-bodied smoke with some complex flavours.

Draw was perfect. The burn was razor sharp throughout. I got more than 2 hours out of this stick. I could leave it alone for a couple of minutes, go back and still get a mouthful of rich smoke effortlessly.

The flavours were steady throughout. Immediately upon lighting, I got a strong, woody, leather taste with a creamy chocolate finish. As it got heated up it developed a nice twang reminiscent of dark chocolate with flecks of chilli.

The review stick I had was just about perfect. Construction was the best I've seen so far.

This was my first taste of the 1502 series, and if this was anything to go by then I couldn't recommend it enough. Strength was good too, with hardly any nicotine buzz, making this a good stick for the newbies out there as well.

There are now five cigars in the 1502 family: the Black Gold, Ruby, Emerald, XO and the new Nicaragua. Following my experience with the Black Gold, I will be trying the other three.

The brand is proudly Nicaraguan. The Black Gold is the most full-bodied of the five.

The filler is all Nicaraguan, with a double binder. The wrapper is a deep maduro with a slightly oily texture and a woody, earthy aroma.
